What type of therapy do you offer?
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I'm currently in the process of being certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For More information please see the resource page.
Do you only provide services for Veterans and Military?
While I bring an understanding to Veteran issues thanks to my personal experience in the military, I work with everyone. As a Licensed Marriage and family therapist I have worked with Children with a range of diagnosis from Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, to Major depressive disorder. I have also worked with families in the process of adopting children, families of troubled teens, adults with issues ranging from Bi-polar disorder to Depression, and even Anxiety. How do I know if I need to see a therapist?
I think the fact that you are here and searching is a good indicator that it may be time for you to seek support. Ask yourself a few questions. Have I been going about this alone? Am I stuck in the unsuccessful patterns that lead to similar problems? Could I benefit from a different perspective on what is going on in my life? If you answered yes to any of these questions then give me a call to see how you can get started to make the changes you want to make.
Why can't I just talk to my friends and family about my problems? Why do I need to go to a therapist?
You can go to your friends for advice anytime. Advice is different from therapy in that I will do my best NOT to give you advice. I'm not here to tell you what to do but rather help you find what will work best for you. Your friend gives you advice based on the premise of what THEY think is best for you and not necessarily what you want. As a trained professional it is the goal of a therapist to help you come to the best solution for yourself and no one else. My job is basically to work myself out of a job. I'm here for you and I'll help you, but only as long as you need it.
How will I know if you are the therapist for me?
Give me a call for a free 20 minute over the phone consultation and we can see if I'm a good fit. Even after starting therapy you come to the conclusion that I'm not a proper fit, I will do my best to refer you to someone who can meet your needs.
I found you through another website are you part of that group or do you work alone?
I am part of a collective of therapists who work collaboratively to support our clients. What this means is that even if I can't support you, I have a pool of colleagues who I can refer to, both inside that group and outside.
Why don't you take my insurance?
I am currently working on being able to accept some insurances. Be sure the check the "Rates" page frequently as I will be updating that page when I get paneled with certain insurance companies. If you do not see your insurance provider on that page, and would still like to see me give me a call and I can see how I can work with you.
