Help from someone who understands.
George Meier, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I received my degree from National University in 2015. I've worked with a vast variety of individuals, from children in the foster care/group home system, to adults in residential drug rehab, and even running social skills groups using table top role playing games.
As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps with a tour of Fallujah, Iraq under my belt, and a former EMT, I bring to the table insight and understanding that can not be found in books or trainings. I will use my personal as well as clinical experience to support you in your growth. Whether you're a fellow Veteran, a Police Office, Fire Fighter, EMT, Paramedic, or just an every day Jane/Joe I am here to help you navigate through the storm.
I believe in a strength based, individualized approach to therapy. The most important aspect of therapy to me is to get to know you as an individual before I formulate treatment. I utilize elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalytic and many other forms of therapy to custom tailor an experience that best addresses your unique situation.
I understand the stigma that comes with mental health. "Walk it off" "Rub some dirt on it and move on" are some of the common phrases used to "Help" people like us try and resolve our issues. The problem is that doesn't always work. As a matter of fact most times it makes things worse, because our go to is in the form of unhealthy ways of coping. There is a better way, and it doesn't make you "less" to seek help. Give me a call today and let's find out how I could be of service to you, you deserve it.
